I no longer love the sea,
No longer love what I see,
I’m no longer attached to the hazy residue of the past,
Nor to the clock ticking fast.
I am not afraid,
I am no longer afraid.
My limbs do not tremble,
My tongue is not tied,
My heart steadily beats.
The truth is…
I am trying to raise my head up
And not give up,
To let hope glow softly in the glaring light of facts.
To be Gazan, you must find your own path;
My brothers have, my mom has, and I too must have
My own path.
My life is my own, and the future is up to us.
Close to the future, yet heels buried in the rubble.
We are the true definition of an anomaly,
Our resilient hearts have more love to give than the number of synapses in our brain.
Our souls reach beyond the stars into galaxies so far unknown,
We choose to rise, to attain, to thrive, not just survive.
I am not afraid, I am no longer afraid.
