Syrian, from Daraa; seeking Undergraduate degree in Pharmacy and is enrolled at Philadelphia University Jordan.
I am Ahmad Alkhatba, from Syria. I fled to Jordan because of the hostilities. In 2019 I got my high school certificate with a 94.4% GPA. I hope to study pharmacy.
We lost everything,: our homes, our livelihoods, and our country. Really I lost my childhood.
Despite everything, I determined to reach my goal. I believe that education is the only way and there is no other way.
We lived in Al-Zaatari camp. I was 11 years old when we arrived there. We left the camp to Zarqa city. I attended school. I had to adapt to a new system of education that was so different from the Syrian system.
We eventually moved to a suburb of Amman. Our family's income is food assistance from world food program (WFP) and my brother works in a part time library . My father is an elderly man who suffers from thalassemia and severe spinal disc , and the doctor warned him not to do any job . It is impossible to cover my education expenses.
My role model in my life is my father, he spent his life teaching us. I had learned from him that I must not give up until I reach my target.
I want to be independent. I can achieve that if I have a solid education.
Why Would Donors Fund You?
My grandmother suffers from chronic diseases (high blood pressure, Alzheimer's), so she has to take many different medicines throughout her life. But no commitment to take the medicines in a suitable time, as well as the side effects of those medicines, almost put her life at risk, at that moment I decided to study pharmacy perhaps I will be able to help my grandmother and others who suffer from chronic diseases by finding an innovative way to take these medicines.
I am thinking about producing a multiple pill for each patient to suit his health condition, based on measurements of artificial intelligence tools and Internet of things . So it would be easier to take and improve adherence.
Without your generous support, I will not be able to study pharmacy and achieve my dream of implementing my project, so that I can help patients who suffer from chronic diseases.
Financial need is not a good reason. You and 40 million refugees need financial assistance. Say something about yourself that will help a donor support your education.
How Do You Plan to Payback?
I want to help people who suffering from chronic diseases through finding the optimal way to take their many medicines for free. And assisting students who have interrupted from their education due to financial circumstances.
I believe that helping people to be aware of the positive and negative aspects of each is the best way to preventing them from harmful usage of drugs.
On the other hand, when I will have a bachelor's or above degree in pharmacy I will be able to help other pharmacy students in their study and research as well. And hopefully, I can make academic and experimental researches to find suitable medicine to save peoples’ lives and improve their health.
