Syrian, from Daraa; seeking Undergraduate degree in Computer Engineering and is enrolled at Jadara university.
I braided hope and patience into a rope I hold on to reach my goals. I am Ahmed
Al-Shublaq, an 18-year-old Syrian refugee in Jordan.
The war in my home country left my father severely depressed. He also suffers from
hearing loss. His disability made our financial situation precarious.
My mother's university degree did not allow her to earn a living. She started
tutoring children and worked in food catering from home to support us. She
taught me that determination and good time management skills make the
impossible possible.
I was a valedictorian throughout my grade school although I suffer from
Hydrocephalus, which causes me severe headaches.
I have been working to cover my living expenses and help my family make ends
meet, but my meager income cannot cover my education fees.
I need your help to cover my medical and learning needs.
Why Would Donors Fund You?
I have a plan.
I believe that knowledge is a common heritage of mankind and should belong
to all peoples. I dream of starting my own refurbishing appliances
business to repair and recycle electronic, electrical and communications devices. That would lighten our footprint on the environment
by limiting electronic waste, allow those who cannot afford the new equipment to own the equipment that they need, and train/employ young talents.
Your support will have a ripple effect.
How Do You Plan to Payback?
I want to develop my skills and start my own refurbishing equipment and appliances business. I I can lighten our environmental footprint by reusing equipment, provide low-income families with affordable tools necessary for modern life and train/employ young people in equipment repair and therefore contribute to my community’s welfare.
Volunteer Work/Social Capital
I participated in campaigns to clean streets, parks, and
schools.
I was part of clothes donation campaigns to distribute coats to the needy. I remember that when
I was in the eighth grade, I saw a child crying from hunger, and I only had the return bus fare, so I bought it for him and then returned to my house, which was 4 kilometers away from me. School on very cold days. .
On summer days, I always put water out on the plains for the cats and birds to drink.
I feel that we all deserve help.
What Have You Done to Improve Yourself? Awards and Achievements
I participated in many self-improvement courses via the “Nahno” platform. They
include:
· Psychological support
· Capacity building and life skills
· Create my Success with My Own Hands
I also taught myself to recycle/repair damaged electrical appliances through
YouTube tutorials. I have a passion for electronics and electrical appliances, which led me to
disassemble and reassemble appliances at home
