From Syria, Damascus; seeking Undergraduate degree in Accounting and is enrolled at Lebanese International University.
My name is Ahmad Hassoun. I am a Syrian refugee in Lebanon.
I was displaced in 2013 due to the brutal bombing of my town. I left everything behind, my friends, my memories, and our sweet home in search of a safe place. I live with my parents.
I had to work for a living. I have experience in maintenance and repair of mobile devices. As a result, I supplement my income by working in that field.
I was not able to get a Lebanese high school diploma. I travelled to Turkey to sit for the Libyan baccalaureate exam. The exam was canceled due to political differences between Turkey and Libya. I returned to Lebanon. A year and a half later, I was able to obtain the required documentation. I sat for the Lebanese technical baccalaureate exam and ranked first nationwide.
It was a wake up call: never loose hope. Keep giving life your best shot and you will succeed.
Why Would Donors Fund You?
When I graduate. My first goal will be to help refugees and underprivileged Lebanese students get proper education. I am aware that we need to work to improve life for everyone but children are most at risk. They are the future and we must prepare them to build their communities.
How Do You Plan to Payback?
Opening a school to contain displaced Syrian children in Lebanon. And those who were deprived of educational opportunities because of the Syrian war. This will consistently method the child properly, and he will undoubtedly reform future generations.
Volunteer Work/Social Capital
I had to work and earn a living. My full time work prevented me from doing any volunteer work
