Palestinian, from Gaza Strep; seeking Professional Post Graduate degree in Business Administration and is enrolled at Guilford College.
I am Ahmed Al-Yacoubi, 24-year-old computer and communications engineering student at Al-Azhar University in Gaza.
I graduated college but accrued a debt of $4100 USD. I can only obtain my degree when I pay my debt back.
The healthcare scene in Gaza is dire. Equipment and systems are obsolete. They often rely on manual input, thus reducing the chances of retrieval of time sensitive information and gauging patient progress.
I worked on an artificial intelligence project for early detection of breast cancer to help diagnose and treat the disease at an early stage.
Then I started working on a hypertension register for patients diagnosed with Diabetes. I analyzed data and sent patients timely follow-up alerts.
I am aware of the limited utility of small-scale projects but can only imagine the revolution a system-wide overhaul of the healthcare data would bring about, and the positive impact on the health of patients.
I believe that a wide-scale data collection and entry project will create beginner and mid-level entry jobs, and will go a long way in improving public health in Gaza strip.
I am determined to enlist in the Work4Education project to support my bid to liberate my degree, and hope to depend on the generosity of donors to cover what I cannot do alone.
Why Would Donors Fund You?
Gaza's healthcare system already suffers due to repeated hostilities that destroy hardware and infrastructure.
I this day and age, one can rebuild destroyed structures or refurbish equipment . But the loss of information cannot be remedied.
Building the back-up system , the software and data is what allows us to rise again. Please help me preserve the archives of patients that would guarantee their wellbeing and the business continuity of our health institutions.
How Do You Plan to Payback?
I will give all my knowledge, experience and education to serve and advance my community. I will work to present research and projects that will advance the technological level and computerized medicine in my community.
Also, there is no doubt that the person who feels the most is someone who has suffered like him. One day I will return the favor to people who were unable to complete their studies or obtain their certificates because of their financial conditions.
Volunteer Work/Social Capital
I was an active member in the voluntary social activities in Paltel Company , which were checking the
conditions of patients and recreating them, such as nursing homes and the elderly.
I actively participated in the service of my university students in terms of providing them with the necessary summaries and projects through my participation in the student
service committees.
I participated in green environment projects to serve my community.
I participated in camps to teach refugee children about technology and computers and simplify it for them.
What Have You Done to Improve Yourself? Awards and Achievements
I worked on a graduation project related to artificial intelligence under the title "Smart Secure Control System" and led my team to get an excellent grade of 98%. The dean of the college praised the project and the team.
I participated in the technological hackathon sponsored by the French Institute in Gaza in 2020 under the title "Comics Hackathon", and we qualified for the final positions, but we were not lucky to win the tournament this time.
I have completed several free courses sponsored by Google including Flutter Development by Dr. Angela Yu from London, famous and pioneer of programming courses.
I followed English courses, got a B1+ rating in the British Council online test.I continued to study English and currently I am at B2 level.
