Syrian, from Qameshli; seeking Undergraduate degree in Medicine and is enrolled at Lebanese University.
My name is Ali Khalil, from Qameshli, Syria. I am 21 years old. I lost my mother several years ago .
My parents do not have college degrees. Yet they both did everything they could so that we would.
Becoming a doctor has been my dream since I was a child. Medicine seemed like a vocation that suited my personality.
Being able to make a difference in people's live is a great privilege particularly when they're vulnerable. The ethos of medicine also appealed to me; I wanted an altruistic career where integrity is important.
I finished high school with distinction ranking first among my classmates, and then I started as a biochemistry major at the Lebanese University. My first year was the screening year after which students sit for a qualifying exam. All was going well until a health crisis ended be in the ER. I lost the opportunity that year, but sat for the exam the next year and got accepted. The percentage of Syrian students who make it to medical school at the LU is so low, that this of itself made was no small feat.
Whether I end up living in Syria, Lebanon or elsewhere, I have faith in one thing: that I can and will make a difference. Help me do just that.
Why Would Donors Fund You?
Funding my education helps build a future for myself and my community.
By investing in my education, their donations will go a long way in helping others I would be in a position to lend a hand to. I am patient and courageous.
I never give up and i am facing all the challenges even when there is no guarantees.
By funding me you give me the chance to teach all those who lost hope that there is no end to our career unless we decide to, and by helping me we would prove the call " من جد وجد ومن زرع حصد"
How Do You Plan to Payback?
I plan to:
• provide medical care through telehealth services for free
• I intend to volunteer in medical care center, one day a week, to give free medical services.
• I intend to give online seminars about the importance of health care especially in our rural areas.
• Now I am planning to open an awareness medical tips page on instagram to educate people about diseases and how to prevent them and how to deal with chronic diseases like diabetes
• I want to be one of edseed donors one day even if I could only donate to one student, I would be very happy.
