Syrian, from Daraa; seeking Undergraduate degree in Software Engineering and is enrolled at Zarqa University.
Set your goal first, then: ready, steady, go and you are on your way.
War forced me to leave my country. With it came the pain of separation from loved ones and familiar places, shattering of dreams, living in a refugee camp and an ugly reality. My house in Syria was demolished. I did not feel alive after that.
I had two options: find a way out of my predicament or be defeated by my circumstances. I chose the first.
I am Batool Al-Jnade, an 18-year-old, Syrian from Daraa. I am pursuing a bachelor’s degree in software engineering.
“I don't look at things as impossible; if you keep trying, nothing is difficult.”
This was my mantra. and I still believe in it, and live by it. Our caravan units in the camp did not protect us from the scorching heat or the freezing cold. Extreme heat made me sick. We had no power at night. To compensate for the heat of the day I used to study at night using a solar powered flashlight that worked for a few hours only.
My father could not pay for my tuition fees due to a disability. He could not fwork.
Although I qualified for a scholarship, I did not get it because my older sister was a beneficiary and they would not accept two members of the same family.
A college degree remains my goal, and I will not stop until I reach it.
My father taught me tto pay it forward. He said I will be paid back when I am in need if I do. I believe in this, and hope to find support when I need it to reach my goal.
Why Would Donors Fund You?
Providing a helping hand and assistance to every student will make our society stronger in overcoming the difficulties we face, such as interruption of education and child labor.
I aspire to leave a good impact by helping children learn how to use computers and use social media in a beneficial way. Together, this will help us build a stronger community capable of bridging the digital divide in the camp. I aspire to be successful and influential in the field of programming, and I hope to be able to do this with your support.
How Do You Plan to Payback?
I aspire to create an application to help asthma patients. Because I suffer from severe allergies, this made me think about how this application will work and how will it help patients? I consulted some doctors and nurses and explained to them the idea of a phone App. It will send notifications and notes reminding asthma patients of their medical appointments, when to use their different inhalers, traces triggers, update their medical conditions and reports them to help doctors evaluate their health condition. They liked the idea and believed it would benefit many patients.
