Syrian, from Naseeb/Dar'aa; seeking Undergraduate degree in Accounting and is enrolled at Zarqa University.
My name is Ziad Al-Radhi
I am 18 years old. I am from Naseeb, Dar’aa .
Before displacement, my father worked in construction. My mother had a high school diploma. We all attended school. We did not need financial support from anyone.
In my school years in Syria, I was always among the best students in my class and wanted to go to college.
We left our city when the fighting intensified in 2012.
I scored 78.1 on my Tawjihi diploma. I want to be an accountant.
I am the only one alive of nine kids who grew up together in Syria. We wanted to go to college together. If I go to college, I will dedicate my degree to them. I will make our dream come true in their honor.
I was lucky to attend school. In math, I found refuge from the trauma of displacement and loss. I would forget myself in the world of numbers for hours. Time seemed to stand still and I enjoyed it. I compensated for poor quality education by watching math classes on YouTube. I excelled in math scoring 190/200. I also worked on improving my English.
I want to be an accountant. I want a career so that I can live in dignity.
I have always believed in overcoming the challenges no matter how difficult life gets. My goals are ambitious, but I am fully determined to pursue my dreams to the end.
Please help me make my dream a reality.
Why Would Donors Fund You?
I scored 78.1 in my Tawjihi diploma. I dream of becoming an accountant.
I had 9 friends in Syria. We pledged to be friends for life and go to college together.
Today I am the only one alive. Two drowned while attempting to escape to Europe. I lost three to cancer, and four of them with myself were involved in a car accident. I was the only survivor; I would love to fulfill this dream for all of us, in their hono
How Do You Plan to Payback?
I am going to give back to the community and support the minors groups in society by fighting the monopoly.
I am going to work hard to help students who have academic difficulties especially in math, I am planning also to offer them more training in my free time.
I am going to have a good reputation in my career and be productive In society and give back to it.
Volunteer Work/Social Capital
I volunteered with Questscope as youth activities’ coordinator. I also painted wall art on the school walls at the camp. I specialized in pencil drawings. Qusai, my friend who passed away and I used to watch people in Irbid. I would sit and draw their faces for hours. To encourage me he would say he is going to get us ice cream and leave me to draw. I stopped when he died. I could not get myself to do it again.
I also played soccer and won over 18 medallions. I even played with the professional Zaatari soccer team against Al-Zarqa team. I won the MVP goalie award and have atrophy to prove it.
