I can't stop the occupation but I can alleviate the pain

Palestinian, from Gaza; seeking Undergraduate degree in Medicine and is enrolled at Okan University.  

I am Nada Abuqamar, the oldest of 4 sisters and three brothers. My three sisters are pursuing medical degrees. I am a junior medical student at Okan University, in Istanbul, Turkey.No Palestinian living and working in Gaza today, my parents included, have an income that can cover the needs of a 9-member family.I began medical school at the Islamic University in Gaza, but soon realized that I would have better credentials if I studied abroad. So, I decided to pursue my dream in Turkey.The cost of my education for the first 2 years in med school was fully covered by Al Jawhara organization, a joint Palestinian-Jordanian-Turkish charity. Unfortunately, the organization ran out of funding after the COVID 19 pandemic, and could no longer fund my education.
Because of my interest and skills in technology and medicine, I was able to do freelance work in scientific research, medical translation, and data entry. However, that was barely enough to cover my basic needs. I still had to focus on my schoolwork and could not work and study at the same time. I was therefore no longer able to cover my college tuition. Unless I pay back the $7500 USD I owe in arrears, I will lose the opportunity to finish my degree.
I know that I can make a difference in my people’s lives, but this I only can with your help.

Why Would Donors Fund You?

A hard worker, passionate, and knowledge-seeker I am. I never give up on my dreams nor my people. Funding my education will improve the health care system in Gaza. Hospitals in Gaza suffer from lack of b neurologists . Therefore, me after graduation, a neurologist specalize in treating war related injuries will serve hundreds of war victims who can’t travel abroad to get the treatment they need.

How Do You Plan to Payback?

Wars in Gaza have left thousands of Palestinians with disabilities. Many of them have lost a limb, suffer from chronic diseases, need urgent and complex surgeries etc. Once I graduate, I will have the medical skills to help my people who are not lucky enough to travel abroad and get the treatment they require.

I’m planning to establish a center to help fit war victims who suffer a disability with prosthetics. I hope to turn it into a health care center that provides rehab and job training to war victims, with a crowdfunding mechanism to pay for services and offer free of charge prosthetics to those in need.

Volunteer Work/Social Capital

I volunteered in an online course that raised awareness about mental health .

I volunteered as a translator for an Instagram page on mental health education.

I volunteered at health care centers back during COVID-19 quarantine to administer vaccines.

I also organized online webinars on healthy food and nutrition
