Palestinian, from Gaza; seeking Undergraduate degree in Cyber security engineering and is enrolled at University College Of Applied Sciences.  

As a teenager, all I wanted was a smart phone to be connected to the world.

I couldn't however fully understand my mother's insistence on caution when using my phone. To me, it was merely a tool for communicating with friends and browsing the Internet.

My name is Sama, - sky in Arabic, and my curiosity has no limit. I am from Gaza, Palestine pursuing an Undergraduate degree in Cybersecurity engineering at the University College Of Applied Sciences.

However, as time went on, I encountered a distressing account of a young girl falling victim to electronic blackmail. Her tragic decision to end her life due to overwhelming psychological stress left me profoundly moved. Fueled by anger and a desire to protect others, I researched more cases, discovering numerous victims. This intensified my determination to become their savior.

Data protection and privacy are critical concerns in the rapidly evolving tech landscape, impacting individuals, families, governments, and institutions. My family's urging to prioritize their safety initially perplexed me.

Cybersecurity emerged as a vital discipline, and I embraced it, aiming to establish a digital company promoting responsible technology use. Our mission involves impactful awareness campaigns and cyber learning courses, empowering individuals to safeguard their data.

Together, let us forge a path towards a future where every individual can confidently navigate the digital landscape, knowing that their privacy and security are well-preserved.

How Do You Plan to Payback?

• I will conduct meetings for financially challenged university students, promoting edSeed as a resource to fulfill their educational dreams.
• I'll volunteer on the platform, assisting others registrations and campaigns.
• I am aiming to establish a digital company will raise awareness about responsible tech use and data protection, offering courses on safeguarding information.
• I'll also organize sessions for students, sensitizing them to account security to prevent cyber threats and electronic blackmail. Together, we'll empower students to overcome barriers and thrive in a safe digital environment.

Volunteer Work/Social Capital

Because I am a new university student, I have not done a lot of volunteer work yet, but I intend to do so after attending a meeting with a member of Gaza Sky Geeks Foundation and her talk about the field of Cyber Security and how to employ it in several areas, which attracted me greatly.

• I volunteered to attend (Cybersecurity RoadMap) Event at the university which really helped me chart my way to excellence in this discipline during my university studies.
• I volunteered to attend (Your path to programming) meeting at the university.
• I volunteered at NAWA foundation to make a workshop about over thinking
• I volunteered at school health.
