Syrian, from Idlib/syria; seeking Undergraduate degree in Medicine and is enrolled at Adıyaman üniversitesi.
I started my life in a peaceful city in Norther Syria. At age 8, I lost my father and my country and became a refugee in a camp in Turkey.
I am Sundus Elkhalaf, a 19-year-old Syrian residing in Killis.
I am the oldest of 4 siblings, the first to graduate college, and the first aspiring doctor in my family – hopefully with your help.
To me, attending college is not an academic feat. It is a big dream I am willing to do everything to attain for my sake, my family’s and
community’s sake.
After leaving the camp, my mother contracted Hepatitis B.She was too sick to work, and as the eldest, I had to work to help my family
out.
I made every effort to excel at school. I graduated high school last year with a 97% average, ranking first among my peers. I came in ranking 812 among Turkish and Syrian students in math nationwide.
I know that the future of my family depends on my success. I have three siblings that still have a long way to go. I also feel indebted to
the community that hosted us. I want to pay back in kind.
I need 7000 US dollars to cover room and board, transportation, computer and tuition expenses annually. I cannot do it without you. Only with
you.
I promise to spread your generosity to others for years to come. To pay forward what you invested in me, with interest.
Why Would Donors Fund You?
I believe that investing in my education is not just a support for me personally, but an investment in a bright future for my community, thanks to your support, I will contribute to building my country because there is a shortage of doctors and medical machines, according to statistics. I will be the hope for the lives of many patients and children of cancer and it will be a turning point in my life and the lives of every patient. I hope that you will be the miracle for me and for the cancer children in the countries of war.
How Do You Plan to Payback?
I will seek to collaborate with educational organizations and non-profit associations to promote educational opportunities in the world. I will help every student who needs financial assistance because I have lived in the same conditions and I will be the most person who will feel these students.
I will participate in medical and educational volunteer programs and I will establish a health center to care for children with cancer patients in order to relieve them a little of this pain with your support this hope and dream will come true
Volunteer Work/Social Capital
I am passionate about volunteering and I believe in the importance of giving back to the community and this has had a great impact on my life and on the people I interacted with. I contributed to teaching young children the Arabic language and how to read and write for their mother tongue at the Resala Institute in Kilis, and I was also always in school volunteering to explain to all students the lessons of mathematics and physics and all the difficult lessons in the school Through these two experiences I gained many skills and I plan to continue volunteering in the future and contribute to more initiatives
